Two employees of the Jamaica Public Service had to be rescued on Monday after their vehicle stalled in raging flood waters while carrying out restoration work in Lluidasvale, St Catherine.

The men, who are currently undergoing counselling following the incident, are said to be counting their blessings.

It is reported that about 8:20 p.m., the two-man crew entered the area to do restoration work during a power outage, when their truck stalled in a body of water in a section of the community.

The sheer power of the water swept the truck away after it came to a halt, forcing the occupants to abandon their seats.

They managed to crawl to the top of the vehicle.

The duo was rescued by members of the St Catherine Fire Brigade.

The damaged truck was eventually removed from its resting spot in receding waters.
