Kerr leading STETHS scoring pack

Though many local schoolboy football fans contend that Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association ISSA-FLOW Manning Cup players are technically superior, daCosta Cup player, Michael Kerr of St Elizabeth Technical High leads them all in scoring.

Kerr has reeled off 22 goals so far.

"It's a great feeling," he told STAR Sports.

" It's just hard work and dedication, and being calm and composed in front of the goal," said the player who stepped in to replace Donjae Smith.

The player did not add a goal to his impressive mark in their 2-0 ouster by a strong St Jago team in the Super Cup on Saturday, but hopes to regain his prolific form over in the daCosta Cup.

"It's my first season at STETHS, I am coming from Godfrey Stewart High and I am aiming to win the daCosta Cup and the Olivier Shield and be the leading goal scorer this year," he said, adding that his target is 40 goals.

Kerr admitted that he moved to STETHS seeking to win the coveted trophy, while improving himself in the process.

"STETHS is more organised and the football programme is much more organised. We have the team to win the D Cup," he added.

Kerr has score more than 60 goals this season and is hoping the move will be the icing on the cake.

"I am working for a scholarship to go overseas and further my football career," the 18-year-old stressed.

Having been defeated by one of the Corporate Area's surprise packages St Jago Kerr said the Manning Cup teams are ahead in some respect.

"They are not really stronger but they are more skilled and more calm. We never put away our chances and it haunted us in the end," he said.
