Lara, Walsh, Ambrose for USA All-Stars tour
West Indies legends Brian Lara, Courtney Walsh and Curtly Ambrose are among a stellar line-up of stars down to participate in an inaugural cricket all-star series tour across the United States.
The three-game exhibition series, to be played at baseball stadia in New York, Houston, and Los Angeles, will see the trio lining up on teams captained by Indian and Australian greats, Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne.
Also down to participate are Vihrenda Sehwag, Jacques Kallis, Ricky Ponting, Glen McGrath, Wasim Akram, Muttiah Muralitharan, Michael Vaughn, V.V.S. Laxman, Sourav Ganguly, and Kumar Sangakkara.
"Americans are so passionate about sport, and I think there's a huge potential for cricket to take off," Tendulkar told the UK Guardian.
"It is also the first time that international cricket will be played in the baseball stadiums, which will be a lot of fun."
The series, which will see Tendulkar Blasters going up against Warne Warriors, will be played using a Twenty20 format, and according to Warne, he is anticipating good support.
"I'm excited for cricket fans in the United States to be able to see these amazing players for the first time," Warne said.
"I also think that the T20 format will appeal to new audiences, who have never seen or played cricket before."
The matches, to be played on drop-in pitches, will be played starting next Saturday, November 7 at the Citi Field in New York, home of the New York Mets.
game two
The series will then move to the Minute Maid Stadium in Houston for game two on Wednesday, November 11 before closing out on Saturday, November 14 at the Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles.
The series is sanctioned by the International Cricket Council and will see a portion of the earnings going towards helping to grow the sport in the country.
