Teen confesses to stealing cell phones
An 18-year-old will have to spend another eight weeks in custody after Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque said he needed a moment of reflection after confessing to stealing three cell phones from a businessman.
"Robbery with aggravation is a very serious charge and they are saying that you used a knife to rob somebody of their possession," the senior jurist said on Thursday.
It was shared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court that on February 9, the defendant, Jahwayne Miller, held up and robbed the complainant at his business place, kicked him in his leg and took a knapsack containing three Samsung cell phones valued at $130,000.
Miller previously pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm, assault at common law, being armed with an offensive weapon, and robbery with aggravation. His lawyer asked for a date for bail application. Miller was remanded in custody until April 27.
