Farmer accused of beating woman with machete, smashing TV

A farmer from Clarendon is in trouble with the law after allegedly attacking a woman with a machete and destroying her television during a heated altercation.

Police say 34-year-old Owen Lloyd, of Foga district in the parish, has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and malicious destruction of property following the incident, which unfolded in Mocho on Tuesday, August 19.

Reports from the May Pen Police are that around 11:00 a.m., Lloyd and the woman got into a dispute that turned violent. During the clash, he allegedly slapped her multiple times with a machete before turning his anger on her Samsung television set, valued at $40,000.

The matter was reported to the police, and Lloyd was later arrested and charged. His court date is being finalised.
